The streets were abuzz with the clamor of the latest kidnapping. But like any good Persona protagonist would tell you, just because somebody is in mortal peril does not exempt you from school.
This day, however, something different happened. Where once stood the social studies teacher, instead the principal was there, blabbering about school this and culture that. Frankly its enough to make even the most
[DILIGENT] of students to clock out until what seems like the end of the class day. Only this time, the usual pander is broken up by him stating, "And as way of increasing your cultural diversity, we have the most esteemed Professor Layton to teach you. He's from England, you know. So maybe you kids will learn some damn
sophistication.. Hmpf!"
The man who enters would be a giant of a man, were his top hat considered for his height. He is tall and lanky, with an air of gentlemanly charm to his stature. "A most excellent introduction, Mister Principal. Or, should I say Principal-san?" He smiles warmly as he waves the Principal out before addressing the class.
"Greetings my dear students. My name is Hershel Layton, and I am a Professor of Archeology. Archeology is a fascinating field of study, as many civilizations both great and small have left their mark on every facette of our lives. But don't take my word for it. Allow me to demonstrate what I mean."
With a flourish he reveals that he was hiding
a stone tablet behind his back. "Does anybody know what is being depicted here?"
"A dragon." One of the students stated knowingly.
"Indeed! Now, does anybody know what this is?" He asked once more, pulling out a magnet.
"A magnet." Another student said, this time increasingly incorrigible.
"Quite right, but of course you already knew that. But did you know that there was a connection between this." He pulled up the dragon stone. "And this?" He motions to the magnet making a curious face for dramatic effect. "Indeed, the Celtic people once believed that the places were dragons lived and nested were the sources of powerful magical energy and dedicated special sites intended to harness their power. Today we now know that the areas that they worshiped had unusually strong magnetism in the rocks and stones. Like today, they too were fascinated with dragons." He chuckled. "But for entirely different reasons that to face one off with sword and shield in hand."
He raises his hands to readdress the class. "As we can see, what is frequently known may in fact be tied to something that people of the time may have had no awareness of. But that does not diminish the power of what is believed. This and more will be covered throughout the year. But now allow me to turn the question back to you. What is a story, monster, or legend that you were fascinated with as a child--or, perhaps even, today? But first, do start with your names. As this is our first day together, I would like for us to have the opportunity to get to know each other better."
"Now, who will start?"
